Famat, founded on April 15, 1981, is located in Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), France. The facility has been built on 29.6 acres of land.


The company is the result of an agreement between General Electric (U.S.A.) and Snecma (France). Famat is a jointly-owned production facility, specializing in the manufacturing of high technology frames and structural assemblies for aircraft engines produced by these two major engine manufacturers.


The history of Famat is closely linked to the success of the CFM56 and CF6-80 engines. It continues today with programs such as GE90, GP7200, CF34...


The factory construction began in late 1981 with initial operation starting one year later. Famat shipped its first production CF6-80A Fan Frame in late 1983. Full production capacity was reached in 1985.

The 2000th part has been shipped at the end of 1986, the 10.000th in 1991.

Famat produces major structural parts for the CF6, CFM56, GE90 and GP7200 commercial engines that are manufactured by General Electric and Snecma.
